Scopus™ is the largest abstract and citation database of research literature and quality web sources. It's designed to find the information scientists need. Quick, easy and comprehensive, Scopus provides superior support of the literature research process. For more information on Scopus please visit info.scopus.com.
Papers now comes standard with a search engine plugin for Scopus. This plugin allows you to access and search Scopus from within the program, giving you direct access to the wealth of information Scopus offers to scientists. Before you can access Scopus you first have to configure the Scopus plugin. The first time you will try to use the plugin a sheet will pop up that asks you to fill in your Scopus Account ID:
Your librarian/account administrator should be able to help you with this information (see below). After completing the configuration sheet with the account ID you are able to use the Scopus plugin from within Papers.
Note: The Scopus plugin only works if you have institutional access to Scopus. This is due to the fact that the authentication is done on the basis of your IP address.
The Scopus search plugin makes use of the so-called Federated Search Gateway of Scopus. It's important to know that by default your institution does not have access to this gateway. Fortunately access to the gateway is free for institutional users. To access this gateway you will need your institution's Scopus Account ID in order to allow authentication. Note that the account ID is the same for all users within your institution and that access to the gateway only has to be activated once. Since your librarian/account administrator is the primary contact point for Scopus access we ask you to ask him/her to contact the Scopus helpdesk to arrange your ac cess to Scopus via Papers.
If your librarian/account administrator has not already done so, he/she will have to seek contact with the Scopus Helpdesk (see this webpage) and do the following:
The helpdesk will provide the librarian/account administrator with this information together with an estimate on when the access to the Gateway will be active. Your librarian/account administration can then provide you with the Account ID for the configuration sheet above.
Note: the Scopus Account ID is the same for all users within an institution and activation of the Federated Search Gateway only has to be done once per institutional account.
