We hope you have enjoyed our 'weblog' about the WWDC and the other days we spent in San Francisco. For remarks you can of course always mail . We hope to be able to visit the WWDC again in 2005, but that among others depends on financing of at least the admittance fee. We will keep you informed if we are going.

Tosj | Our trip home, and what a trip it would become... We got up early to be on time for the plane (it was planned to leave at 10.20h), and after an all American breakfast and the check out from the hotel we took the BART to the airport. Around 9.00h we were already checked in and trough customs. We were afraid that the cube would be a problem when going through the x-ray scan, because we didn't know what was to be found inside the metal cube. At least it must contain some kind of battery and wires, might have been reason enough for them to ask to open it, but 'armed' with the poster we had a good excuse to tell the customs about the cube they were about to see on the x-ray scan. It got through with the only focus of the customs on the program and life in the Netherlands.
We got ourselves an ice cream and something to drink and waited with our new 15GB iPods turned on for the departure. Once in place in the plane we got a warning about a small problem with a computer card, which we don't need when the weather in our city of destination would be fine. I guess the 'would be fine' says already enough, because half an hour later we get another update with bad news: the weather in Philadelphia is bad and we need the card to get off. There is no spare card in San Francisco, so after some complete power shut down procedures we are asked to leave the airbus again.
We have to get in line to be re-scheduled for an other flight either today or some other day... So almost 5 hours after our scheduled take off (it was 15.00 h) we hear that we are allowed to fly with our own KLM! 'So when does it leave?' was our question. Well: at 16.00 h. so we had to check in within half an hour in an other different terminal which was very crowded. But with the help of people of KLM and its partner North West Airlines we speeded through the check in and customs we got on the plane and almost 6 hours after our planned take off we were airborne. The flight was OK and because of the direct flight we arrived only 1 hour later than we would have if we had taken the US airways flight. Back on Dutch soil we were welcomed by our girlfriends and the parents of Alexander who life not far from the airport. The afternoon we spent at home with the first signs of jetlag, so after some 'powernaps' we had a wonderful diner at Abina in Amstelveen to end our first international Mek&Tosj trip.
