- Our graduation
After six years of working in the Neefix laboratories we have almost reached our ultimate goal: our thesis defence. On Wednesday November 1st 2006 in Leiden, The Netherlands, first Tom and then Alex will defend their work from the past years in a 2x 45 minute session. After that the big party can begin. Every year at the end of the summer it's time for the labevent of the year, our labuitje! In the morning we had a tour along the bunkers in the dunes near Leimuiden. Well not completely true, only Mek will fly to US this year, while Tosj closely follows everything from our homebase Amsterdam. This year promises to be another very special Apple World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco with many great things to come and a busy schedule. - Postdoc Retreat 2005
We visited this year the postdoc retreat from 5-7 October at hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond with 150 other postdocs and last year PhD students. There was a varied program with keynote speakers, workshops, a VENI pub, cabaret and live music. Finally it was time for our yearly labuitje again, and this year Mek was in the organization! We started the day in The Hague with a cultural program where the roles of Mek&Tosj were even reversed for a moment. Every year on the 30th of April, we celebrate our Queen's birthday with a great party. - iDJ iPod Party
Together with Lennert we visited last week's iDJ iPod Party, which coincided with the MacExpo in Amsterdam and was organized by BNN. - Mek&Tosj visit Elsevier
Last tuesday we were invited to visit by the Advanced Technology Group at Reed-Elsevier to give a presentation about our programs and website. During the interactive lunch in the Amsterdam headquarters, we discussed the use of new web technologies and future plans of their Science Direct website.
