SDK
The 4Peaks plugin Software Development Kit is an opensource software package that helps you to get started with programming of your own 4Peaks plugins. Finally, you can add the functionality to 4Peaks that you have been waiting for so long. Generate plugins that are automatically downloaded from the internet and dynamically loaded, without restarting 4Peaks. We invite everyone to download the SDK and contribute in improving 4Peaks. Make the best sequence trace viewer for the Mac even better!

This SDK contains all the files to develop 4Peaks plugins in no-time, from simple interfaces to available internet-based analysis programs like BLAST and Primer3, to complex analysis programs to search for sequence patterns and protein features.

The 4Peaks plugin SDK has been developed together with John Timmer from the Sloan-Kettering Institute, New York USA. Both the framework and sample plugins are released under the Creative Commons Non-commercial Attribution license. Use for the creation of plugins for both free public distribution and private use is highly encouraged. If you need any assistance while coding your own master piece, don't hesitate to contact us!

4Peaks vs EnzymeX plugins
From version 3.0, EnzymeX supports the same type of plugins as 4Peaks. Plugins build using the SDK can be used in both programs without modification. That is ALL 4Peaks plugins will also work in EnzymeX. If you don't use the additional possibilities of an EnzymeX plugin, then your EnzymeX plugin will also run in 4Peaks. You can however use EnzymeX specific methods, which will make your plugin more powerful, but EnzymeX-only.

Where do I start?
Download our SDK and read the accompanying documentation files. Next, take a good look at the provided sample plugins. Now, build your own plugin using the template files you find on the disk image. Our test application will help you test and debug your master piece.
How do I share my plugin?
Send it to us! We will publish your plugin on our webserver, making it immediately available to all 4Peaks users out there. By sharing your work, you help us improving 4Peaks with even more great features!!
I can't code, what now?
Make suggestions! Tell us what you would like to see and we can give it a try. Alternatively, ask someone who has experience in programming for MacOSX.
